Synopsis
Follow acclaimed filmmaker Goran Rosenberg on a daring documentary roadtrip through the US, exploring the movements, events, values and ideas that will shape America in the years to come. Mixing prestigious high-profile interviews (politicians, celebrities, academics…) with dramatic encounters with regular people in real life situations (illegal immigrants, vigilantes, activists…), “America’s Choice” exposes the many hard choices and challenges America is facing.
The Nation (Part 1)
Who is America? Illegal immigration, economic pressure and a rising Hispanic sub-culture have again raised the issue of who belongs to America and who doesn’t. Filming on both sides of the Mexican/Californian border, we meet illegal immigrants and vigilantes, smugglers and fence-builders, as we explore the state of the land of opportunity.
The Republic (Part 2)
How true is the American Dream? The war on terror and the globalized economy has challenged the ideas of social mobility, national security and civil liberties. Filming in California, the Denver and Minneapolis party conventions and the Midwest heartland, this is the story of imploding house markets, collapsing healthcare, environmental disasters and economic inequality.
The Empire (Part 3)
What role will America take in a globalized, hostile world? Is it about making the world more like America or saving America from the world? Filming in Hollywood, Silicon Valley and Colorado, we meet everyone: myth-making celebrities, environmental pioneers, military men and rural survivalists, as we explore America’s relationship to the outside world and its challenges.
